With The Asylum’s feature The Haunting of Whaley House having recenly leased to DVD, Blu-ray, Redbox, and Netflix today, we thought it time to bring you the thoughts from director Jose Prendes on his film. Read on!

“It seems like only yesterday that I was starting work on the script five months ago (note: this was during production here), said writer and director Prendes, ”when the studio came to me with a proposition for a Whaley House film and I accepted, knowing I could do something unique given the limitations with time and money.”

Produced by The Asylum, The Haunting of Whaley House stars Stephanie Greco as “Penny, (who) is a skeptic, despite the fact that she works as a tour guide at The Whaley House, considered America's most haunted house. One night her friends convince her to let them into the famous museum to see if it is as haunted as everyone says it is, and they find much more than they bargained for. Just because you don't believe in ghosts doesn't mean they don't believe in you!”

Joining Greco is genre vet Lynn Lowry (George Romero’s The Crazies), among others, and The Woman cinematographer Alex Vendler and producers Paul Bales and David Michael Latt.

“I couldn’t have done it without my crew,” said Prendes, “who pulled together and who really cared about making an entertaining movie, as well as my cast! The movie wouldn’t be half as powerful as it is, if it wasn’t for the amazing talents on display, especially my lead Greco, who steals the show in my opinion and rightly so.”

“I am humbled by the fact that so many great people gave a crap for the feature, and who nearly broke themselves in order to make such a unique film in The Asylum movie canon,” Prendes continued. “Hell, even The Asylum felt the film went above and beyond, and we ended up with the best cover ever for one of their releases. I am so thankful to everyone involved and proud. My goal was to make a fun 80’s haunted house throwback with Giallo elements, and I think we succeeded!”

As for the disc’s special features, Prendes revealed, “There’s a drunken cast and crew commentary, a behind-the-scenes featurette directed by my wife, Jessica, a ten-minute interview with Lynn Lowry conducted by me, a featurette on true ghost stories with the cast, and a special personal look at the behind-the-scenes from my point of view, called the Director’s Diaries!”
